Wow...you don't log your runs? Really? I'm so different. I'm absolutely obsessed about putting every incy bincy detail into my running worksheet. After a run it is so relaxing to write everything down. Then I proceed to spend the next half-hour staring at it, admiring it, and comparing it to the previous week, month, and year, to see where I'm at. Maybe that's because I'm a guy...maybe even part-geek (not sure about that last part)

Oh, and I'm with you on your marathon plan. I'm planning to run two this year myself...probably SF in August and NYC or Philly in November. If you're thinking of Hartford, I ran it 2 years ago, and it was a lot of fun. It's a little on the small side, but the scenery was tremendous. Only drawbacks were the small crowd support and the fact that it's an out-and-back trail. Just wanted to let you know so you can make a good decision. See ya.
Wow. I've been keeping a running log for a long time. I keep track of a lot of stuff and refer back to it mostly for training purposes. I use it to explain why I'm all of a sudden energy drained, did I overdo it too quick on stepping up mileage, did I taper right for that race? Plus as I get older, the training methods actually change. Sounds like you had a good run yesterday.
Well....I guess I have a semi-log because I do record long runs. I also write out my plans for the week but then I don't go back and note things like weather, shoe mileage, illness, etc. So I really just need to start being more descriptive.

Thanks for pointing out CT is an out and back race. I hadn't realized that and I honestly don't find that appealing right now. How do you find running two marathons a few months apart? Do you think that's easier than training for one and then another say six months down the road?
Yeah, that's why I want to start recording things in detail. :)
To be honest, I've never done two marathons in one calendar year before. I only did one fall marathon for each of the last three years so this year I'm trying something different. (Honestly, was originally planning to run 3 this year, but Boston is no longer an option because of injury.)

I think that as 12 weeks is a good amount of time between marathons, because it gives you 2-3 weeks of recovery time after the first and leaves you another eight to get 3 to 4 more solid long runs in.
